Guidance Note for Noise : Licence Applications, Surveys and Assessments in Relation to Scheduled Activities (NG4)

The EPA published a new Guidance Note on environmental noise in relation to licenced sites in April 2012 to amalgamate and update previous noise guidance issued by the Agency. The Guidance is intended to assist licensed sites with the assessment of their potential and actual noise impact on the local environment. The document can be downloaded here.

Septic Tanks

The Department of Environment, Community and Local Government (DoECLG) has published the Water Services (Amendment) Act 2012 to regulate wastewater discharges from all homes that are not connected to the public sewer network. This will affect approximately 440,000 wastewater treatment systems serving single houses in Ireland. The Act requires that all on-site septic tank systems or domestic wastewater treatment systems will be registered under a scheme which the local authorities will establish and maintain.
